Why better AI still starts with better data, and making intelligence easier for more people to use
Following his presentation at the Qlik AI Reality Tour in Johannesburg on 9 September 2025, Intrade Africa’s Group Chief Product & Technology Officer, Edward Bothma, joined a wider conversation about what organisations need to move beyond AI experimentation and create practical business value.
The event brought together technology leaders from Qlik, AWS, Accenture and Redington, with the discussion focusing on trustworthy data foundations, skills development and the importance of combining new AI capabilities with disciplined data practices.
For Intrade, that conversation goes directly to the heart of how we are building for African markets: using AI to make complex information easier to consume and putting useful intelligence into the hands of people who may never be data specialists.
In a follow-up video interview with Maglazana, Edward expanded on that idea, discussing Intrade’s use of Qlik, AI-assisted products and digital agents to augment people rather than simply automate them.
“More data, to more people, in a way that’s easy to consume.”
